BACCHUS Marsh shooting star Dejan Vasiljevic is the toast of junior basketball after a stellar few weeks on the court.
‘DJ’, 15, was judged the best player in Bacchus Marsh Grammar’s state championship win on July 30. He also won the ‘most valuable player’ award for leading the under-16 Vic Metro side to a national championship win in Tamworth earlier in the month.
Dejan, pictured, was in outstanding form in the grand final, shooting a game-high 24 points and pulling in six rebounds.
Coach Ross Clark said the shooting guard, who averaged nearly 13 points per game for the national carnival, could go all the way in the sport.
“He’s one of the most talented young basketballers in the country,” he said. “He’s got massive ability. He’s got the potential to play NBL. It’s up to him.”
Dejan has been selected for an Australian under-17 development camp ahead of the junior world championships in Spain in 2014.
