BNL: Cobras’ finals hopes alive

BACCHUS Marsh could not close out the Ballarat Netball League top six at the weekend but remains a warm favourite for a finals berth despite a defeat from Ballarat.

The 48-52 loss means the sixth-placed Cobras must beat one-win, last-placed Sebastopol this weekend to guarantee sixth place and a spot in the finals.

Ballarat (7-8) drew level on wins with Bacchus Marsh (7-1-7) but the Marsh’s drawn-game advantage means it will finish sixth through a win in the final home-and-away round.

Melton comfortably accounted for Sebastopol at the weekend with a 55-26 win at MacPherson Park.

The result means the Bloods will finish fourth and play fifth-placed Darley in an elimination final.

In other results, Melton South 20 lost to Redan 68, Sunbury 46 defeated North Ballarat 39 and East Point 48 lost to Lake Wendouree 51.
