THE voice of Moorabool has begun broadcasting from a new studio in Darley.
Community radio station Apple FM is now next to the Montessori Preschool after Moorabool Council closed the station’s old home in Main Street, Bacchus Marsh, earlier this year.
Apple seeks not only to inform and entertain but to provide opportunities for budding local DJs, with station manager Karellyn Dangar saying the ages of broadcasters range from 12 to 84.
Radio duo Mark Philip (pictured) and Kathy Hughes, who present Your Community, and the station’s 33 volunteers made the switch to the Darley premises in June and haven’t looked back. In the past 12 months, the show has been essential listening for those wanting to know what’s happening in their community. Hughes says the pair have interviewed representatives of more than 100 community groups. The Weekly features on Your Community every Thursday from 9.45am.
