TAC Cup: Jets put Cannons to sword

WESTERN Jets may have been out of the TAC Cup finals race for a number of weeks but gave an emphatic reminder that they were best of the rest with a 58-point belting of Calder Cannons on Saturday.

The finals-bound Cannons had no answers for the Jets’ nine-goal last quarter at Highgate Reserve in the 18.11 (119) to 8.13 (61) result.

It means the Jets finish the TAC Cup season ninth on the ladder, half a game behind eighth-placed Geelong Falcons and seventh-placed Calder Cannons.

The percentage boost means the Jets finish the season with eight wins and nine losses and almost dead level on points for and against with a percentage of 99.08.

Goals were shared around on Saturday, with Spencer White booting three majors while there were two each for Jack Dorgan, Ashlin Brown, Jake Greiser and Josh Bench.

Better players for the Jets were Lachlan Hunter, Mark Orr, Sam Critchley, Harley Walshe, Jack Walker and Jason Robinson.
