BALLAN Golf Club was one of the first victims of Victoria’s wild weather with its roof blown off early this morning.
Secretary Rod Caithness, who lives a short distance away, heard a loud noise at about 8am. .
‘‘It made an awful clatter,’’ he said.
‘‘The SES came and had a look but they said it’s too big a job for them to fix. [Moorabool] Council came along to help [and] they have secured the roof in the car park.’’
The clubhouse was constructed in 1984.
Valuable items, including records stored in the roof are being moved from the premises.
Electricity has been cut to the building after the roof struck power lines and landed in ’an adjoining car park.
An SES spokesman said the strong winds had brought down numerous trees across Moorabool Shire.
