Ballarat FL: Darley Devils do it tough

THE Melton-Moorabool region may not have a starter in the Ballarat Football League senior grand final but will in both of Saturday’s curtain-raisers at Eastern Oval.

Darley progressed to the reserves grand final with a 15-point win against North Ballarat at the weekend, while Bacchus Marsh beat North Ballarat by 43 points in under-18.5s.

The Devils were in a winning position at half-time of the preliminary final, up by 34 points, only for North Ballarat to fight back.

The Devils eventually prevailed 12.13 (85) to 10.10 (70) to set up a grand final against Redan.

Bacchus Marsh’s under-18.5s kicked six goals to two in the first quarter and maintained the advantage at each interval to win 15.5 (95) to North Ballarat 8.4 (52).

The Cobras will play Redan in the grand final.

In seniors, Redan and Sunbury Lions continue their long-running rivalry this weekend after Redan beat East Point by 48 points in the preliminary final.

Redan kicked 11 goals to five after half-time to win 23.10 (148) to East Point 15.10 (100).
