Melton elections: Two new faces join council

NEWLY-elected Melton councillors have listed capping rates and providing more for families among their top priorities.

The council will include two new faces, Nola Dunn in Cambridge ward and Lara Carli in Watts ward.

Coburn ward’s Sophie Ramsey, Bob Turner and Broden Borg and Cambridge ward’s Kathy Majdlik were all re-elected for another four-year term.

In Watts ward, Renata Cugliari was returned, alongside Lara Carli, the sister of former mayor Justin Mammarella.

Ms Carli said she will focus on advocating for families and work to ensure infrastructure growth in the city is ‘‘sensible and necessary’’.

She received 1645 first preference votes,  well ahead of Cr Cugliari with 1195.

Former Cambridge ward councillor Garry Stock was unsuccessful in his bid to retain his seat, while outgoing mayor Justin Mammarella did not seek re-election.
