Fun and lasting friends

Learning to dance is not just about exercise or training for a career, it’s also about making friends, say principals Ashleigh Greiser and Kylie Spark of NRG Dance Studio in Melton.

“Ashleigh and I have been friends and danced together for many years,” Kylie says.

“We get great joy out of seeing our students develop the same friendships through their love of dance.”

Both principals are Victorian state dancers and have performed many times including at Crown Casino, as part of a Michael Jackson tribute show, in the Melbourne Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, and in singer Madeline Woods’ film clip.

The pair are trained in the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing syllabus.

NRGs young, energetic and vibrant team has classes for age three and up, including jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary, neo-classical, hip-hop and acrobatics.

“Hip-hop is the most popular among students these days and we hope to provide more classes in different styles as we grow. We pride ourselves on providing a fun and friendly environment where students can freely express themselves,” says Kylie.

Open since 2011, the studio has grown from 42 students to more than 100 with many success stories.

“One of our younger students Tanasha Lesa is the face of Collette Dinnigan’s Target Ballet range,” Kylie says. “We’re very proud and it’s great to see her in catalogues and on billboards promoting children’s danceware.”

NRG Dance Studio is at 16 Wallace Square, Melton. Details: 9746 8880, nrgdancestudio.com.au

Classes resume Monday, February 4.
