It wasn’t quite how the west was won, but dozens of children dressed as cowboys and Indians conquered plenty of hearts in Sunday’s Ballan Autumn Festival parade. The march down Stead Street was a sea of colour as kindies, schools, farmers and even the Creswick light horse troop celebrated the Wild West theme. Festival spokeswoman Sarah Packham said the involvement of children was particularly evident this year. Other highlights included stalls, a pet show and art exhibition. Ms Peckham said the theme of next year’s event would be “living in the ’70s”. More pictures at mooraboolweekly.com.au
