Modern gem, classic touch

Clipped hedges and a tropical fern garden near the front leadlight door hint at green-thumb talent but it’s only when the backyard is seen does full appreciation hit. Yes, this Victorian-style house with a lace-trimmed bullnose verandah is made just that bit tastier for its surroundings.

With the exception of the main bedroom’s bay window, there’s little of the period style inside. Instead, there’s the practicality of vinyl flooring and a clever conversion of the double garage into a carpeted rumpus room accessed through double doors from the open lounge room just inside the front door.

Across the entry walkway is the main bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and neat en suite with heat lamp. The walkway ends at the kitchen-meals hub, which also has a door to the lounge room. A pantry, 900mm gas cook-top, stainless-steel underbench oven and a dishwasher are kitchen features.

A hallway heads from the meals area to two bedrooms with wardrobes, a separate toilet and main bathroom with heat lamp.

Partially enclosed with a lattice-shadecloth mix, a covered pergola with tiles beneath is the spot for relaxation, but if the hordes arrive there’s a double carport that happily serves as extra entertainment space. This carport is attached to a four-car garage with dual roller doors; it comes with shelves and bench.

The backyard has beauty without the demands of high maintenance. A silver birch underplanted with colourful blooms, a spreading golden elm, an ornamental pear and decorative shrubs are planted in wall-to-wall mulch.
