Interleague
A select group of Melton-Moorabool region players has been picked for a Ballarat Football League interleague side dominated by North City and Sunbury call-ups. They include Tyson Shea and Declan Phyland (Bacchus Marsh), Darren Leonard, Shane Page, Rhys Ellis, Dane Grenfell, Jake Edwards and Brad Inglis (Darley), Matt Notman (Melton) and Leigh Burke, Rex Hickman and Doug Thomas (Melton South). The BFL plays Bendigo Football League on May 25 at Eastern Oval.
Netball
Melton exacted its revenge against Lake Wendouree for last year’s grand final defeat in A-grade, winning 37-31 on Saturday. Melissa McCauley scored 23 goals while Brooke Thompson, Amy Conroy and Brooke Gleeson were better players in the win. Melton South’s Andrea Tai proved a tough opponent, scoring 31 goals as the Panthers and Lions drew 46-all. Monique Clark and Bonne Robson were other performers. Bacchus Marsh fell to its first defeat of the season, 37-52 against East Point. Susan Dalmau was the Cobras’ best with 29 goals. Darley proved too strong for Ballarat, winning 47-19 thanks to standout performances from Talei Bari, Leah Mathey and Alix Edwards.

Ballan is off the mark after beating Rokewood-Corindhap 18.10 (118) to 13.8 (86) at the weekend. Gordon squared its season at 2-2 by thrashing Beaufort, 21.16 (142) to 3.13 (31).
