Thieves stole $20,000 of cigarettes after forcing their way into a supermarket at Woodgrove shopping centre last Thursday. It’s believed the thieves were driving a Nissan X-Trail.
Arsonists hit bikie clubhouse

Premier rejects meeting
Moorabool Council’s request for a meeting with Premier Denis Napthine over plans for Bacchus Marsh’s eastern interchange has been knocked back. “It’s extremely disappointing for such a significant issue for the area,” mayor Cr Pat Toohey said. Moorabool will receive $908,043 through the federal government’s Roads to Recovery program, with Navigators Road getting $43,000 to mark centre and edge lines.
Footy legend strides out
Former Essendon star Michael Long will visit Melton and Moorabool next week as part of a walk relay with the goal of having Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people recognised in Australia’s constitution. The walk will begin at the MCG and finish in the Northern Territory. A community breakfast will be held at Melton Civic Centre at 8.45am on Monday. Walkers will arrive at Bacchus Marsh Visitors Centre at 2pm, Monday, and at the Ballan Council offices from 3.30pm the next day for a traditional smoking ceremony, followed by performances and a community barbecue.
