Letters to the Editor: Melton, Moorabool

Re: Waiting: For ambos, and pay rise (Weekly, May 14):

This a statewide issue — the service is understaffed and paramedics are overworked; communities are being left without ambulance coverage. Victorian paramedics are paid about $25,000 less than their South Australian counterparts. Paramedics are thinking of, or actually, leaving. Unless the Napthine government delivers pay parity this will only worsen. We need the public to speak up! – Tony (via web)

Re: NBN rollout a ‘game changer’ for Moorabool (Weekly, May 14)

I can say with certainty the launch of NBN services in Bacchus Marsh has been warmly embraced by residents with more than 1000 people visiting the Telstra fibre experience centre during its recent visit. It was great to be able to talk to people of all ages and see the understanding they already have of what the NBN will do for the area. I think for people to be able to experience the benefits first-hand made it all the more real, and that enthusiasm has led to one of the fastest uptake rates.

– Bill Mundy, NBN Co area general manager

Re: State budget: Mixed bag for west (Weekly, May 14):

To be fair, the west has done well out of public transport spending in the past few years. However, I agree that much more could be done to improve public transport in this city of ours. – Paul (via web)
