MELTON Phoenix is starting to break away from the chasing pack in FFV state league 5, thanks to a 3-2 win against Melbourne City on Saturday.
A seventh win in eight games kept Melton top of the ladder, its 22 points putting it ahead of Laverton Park by four points (18 with a game in hand) and Brimbank Stallions (third, 17).
Chris Briggs scored a double on Saturday and Jason Moody the other Melton goal.
