Student of history can cash in

ONE local primary school pupil with an interest in local history and his or her school will share in the spoils after Moorabool council signed off on a new award to honour the late Margaret Moritz, a driving force for the Bacchus Marsh Historical Society for 36 years.

The award is aimed at creating interest in local heritage among primary school pupils, with a subcommittee of one councillor and two Moorabool Heritage Advisory Committee members overseeing the process.

Cr Paul Tatchell said Ms Moritz did a mountain of work to promote the heritage of the area. She was a loyal servant of the Blacksmith Cottage and Forge and the advisory committee.

The winning student will share a cash prize with his or her school.
