Lilting voices of African hope

A CHOIR of 22 Ugandan children orphaned by AIDS, war and poverty will share a message of hope in Ballan on July 25.

Watoto Children’s Choir’s Beautiful Africa: A New Generation will feature a mix of contemporary gospel music and traditional African rhythms.

The choir has travelled internationally since 1994 as ambassadors for the millions of children in Africa who have been orphaned.

“Through the concert, we share a message of transformation by telling the story of Africa’s rescued orphans and women,”  Watato founder and pastor Gary Skinner said.

The children live in Watoto Children’s Villages, where they are cared for and given education, medical attention and social nurturing. The free concert is at Ballan Mechanics Hall from 7pm.
