Bacchus Marsh roof fire controlled

A BLOCKED chimney has caused a roof fire at a house in Cummings Road, Bacchus Marsh.

Bacchus Marsh CFA captain Nathan Ractliffe said heavy smoke was billowing from the eaves and roof of the house when crews from Bacchus Marsh, Eynesbury and Parwan arrived at 9am on July 8.

The blaze, which spread to wall space, took almost 40 minutes to extinguish.  Paramedics treated an occupant for smoke inhalation, but no one was injured.

Mr Ractliffe urged homeowners to ensure they had chimneys cleaned regularly.
