War stories shared in Bacchus Marsh

ABOUT 750 people attended an awareness day for next year’s World War I centenary commemoration in Bacchus Marsh.

Former premier and Victorian Anzac Centenary Committee chairman Ted Baillieu (pictured) launched the event, which included talks, displays and musical performances at Bacchus Marsh town hall and RSL hall, and Lerderderg library.

Stories from relatives of Diggers involved in the war and who are commemorated on the Avenue of Honour were recorded.

Other guests included federal Ballarat MP Catherine King, Melton MP Don Nardella, Moorabool councillors and historians, and speakers from the National Trust and local schools.
