JASON Moody’s hat-trick led a Melton rout as the Phoenix moved a
step closer to claiming the FFV state league 5 west title on Saturday by
beating Keilor Wolves 7-1.
The Phoenix (43 points) are top by just two
from Brimbank Stallions (41) but have two games in hand and a far
superior goal difference, positive 50 to positive 16.
Moody’s triple, two goals for Chris Briggs and one each for Robert Bebenek and Carlos Velasquez gave Melton the comfortable win.
Melton’s women also enjoyed a big win, with Elise Muller scoring
two goals and Mikeala Wheadon one in a 3-0 win against Port Melbourne.
The Phoenix women sit fifth (21 points) in women’s state league 3 west.
