Take a flying visit to learn all about Jimmy Melrose

MELTON information centre volunteers, including Sandra Sier
(pictured), are teaching visitors about groundbreaking aviator Jimmy
Melrose as part of a free exhibition of newspaper pictures and articles.

Melrose met a tragic end when he crashed and died in Melton South in
July 1936.

The aviator, who grew up in Adelaide, flew solo around
Australia in record time aged 20. At 21, he flew solo across the world.

The exhibition includes an award-winning literary piece by Melton’s
Veronica Schwarz and finishes on Saturday. Details: 9747 7300.
