Western Jets will meet Calder Cannons in the first semi-final
after Calder lost to Geelong Falcons and Western eliminated Murray
Bushrangers at the weekend.
Western rallied from 15 points down at the last change on Sunday to win 10.12 (72) to 9.9 (63) at Princes Park.
Holding Murray to just three behinds in the last quarter made the
difference as Western stormed to the lead on the back of strong
performances from Melton’s Lachlan Hickey, Jake Greiser and three goals
from David Iaccarino. Darley’s Billy Myers kicked a goal for Western in the match.
Calder led at quarter-time against Geelong on Saturday but was
unable to match the intensity thereafter, losing 13.11 (89) to 7.7 (49).
The results set up an all-west affair in this Sunday’s semi-final, which starts at 11.15am at Princes Park in Carlton.
The winner will advance to a preliminary final against Eastern Ranges the following weekend.
