Bacchus Marsh College’s play proves a fulfilling experience

Tales of work experience are often
limited to frustrated teens describing a week handcuffed to a
photocopier or doing mind-numbing coffee runs for people who call them
“kiddo”.

However, Bacchus Marsh College students will go much further in their original production, Community Junction Television 4.

The play, at the college’s drama hall
from September 10 to 12, is set in a television studio where students
are completing work experience.

It’s a comedic and raw look at the practice of work experience, with plenty of singing and dancing.

The lead roles are being filled by Linzy Marsden, Lafai Key and Faith Key.

Directed by drama department head Chris Doughty, the production involves 65 students from all year levels.

“The dancing’s been rehearsed since
February, and the acting since May, so we’re hoping it’s going to come
together perfectly,” choreographer and year 11 student Aimiee Edwards
said. “We’ve worked really hard, and it’s been great fun.”

Year 9 and 10 students Kassandra Peterson and Carly Eyckens are co-producing the play.

Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. Tickets cost $5 for students, $10 for adults.  Details: 5367 9500.
