Finals have arrived early for Diggers Rest and Melton Centrals in the Riddell District Netball League.
The local rivals will square off in a winner- takes-all bout this weekend with a place in the post-season on the line.
When they met earlier in the year, Diggers Rest came out on top by two goals in a thrilling contest.
After her team enjoyed a bye last week, Burras coach Amy Carroll said it was ready for the challenge.
“They are a really strong team and won the premiership last year so we really respect them,” Carroll said.
“I think we will just play our game and do what we can.”
Diggers Rest endured a slow start to the season, having to face most of the top sides in the early rounds.
But the Burras have rediscovered their best form in the past three weeks, defeating Wallan by
25 goals, Sunbury by 47 and Kilmore by 37.
Having qualified for last year’s finals series in the final round of the season, the Burras know all about cutting it fine.
Carroll is hoping history is about to repeat itself.
“It’s hard starting the season with those really tough teams,” she said.
“It would be nice to cruise your way into the season, but unfortunately we had the tough ones up first.
“In terms of being more consistent over the season, we’re definitely better placed this year.
“The last few games will be tough, but we’re prepared for that.”
Saturday’s match is at McPherson Park from 1.30pm.
