Children at a Melton West learning centre have been beating the drum for Cultural Diversity Week, celebrating a different country every day for the past fortnight.
Last Tuesday, Simon Peart from Drum Beats hosted an African-inspired workshop for children including Aarush, 4 (pictured centre).
Good Start Early Learning Centre group leader and educator, Christine Allan, says even staff joined in.
“Simon talked about his experiences of learning to make and play the drums living in Guinea. He told us the story of his amazing costume, how it was made from different tribes’ patchworks and how each pattern would remind him of a particular festival or occasion he’d played at.”
