Gallery | Anzac Day: Bacchus Marsh dawn service

Almost 1000 people, including many local school children, gathered at the Bacchus Marsh cenotaph for this year’s Anzac Day dawn service.

Bacchus Marsh RSL president Irish Kummerlowe said he was touched to see how much appreciation was shown by the younger generation, many of whom laid wreaths.

“One man thanked me and said how hard it is to get his kids up for school, but they got up very easily to come out for Anzac Day. I think they’re teaching them how important it is.”

The service was followed by breakfast in the shire hall. Melton RSL secretary Ian Lawrey said about 3500 people attended Friday’s dawn service in Melton.
