Day of dye at Melton Primary School to battle cancer

About 30 people had their hair foiled or dyed pink as part of a breast cancer fund-raiser held by Melton Primary School.

Last Wednesday’s Pink Strips event was hosted in support of teacher Tammy Velden, who was recently diagnosed with the disease.

Organiser Lauren Marriott said staff from the school had pink strips dyed into their hair by hairdressers at Melton’s Chic Hair Studio.

“It was amazing. Everyone came dressed in pink and there were pink banners, pink balloons, pink lollies, cupcakes, cheesecake and fairy bread.”

A manicurist painted nails, and a sausage sizzle and silent auction supported the fund-raising effort.

About $2000 has been raised for the Breast Cancer Network Australia.

Ms Marriott said a major raffle, featuring a $2000 pampering pack, would remain open until May 2.
