Bungaree has hardly put a foot wrong in the opening six rounds of the Central Highlands Football League.
The Demons’ seniors, reserves and under-17.5 sides are all on top of the ladder.
Seniors coach Greg Middleton says depth and team balance are reasons for the season’s solid start.
“We began the season well, but we didn’t expect to be undefeated,’’ he said.
“We had a good preseason and good run with injuries compared to last year.
“We’ve also played a mixture of sides from the top, middle and bottom of the ladder.
“With the under-17.5s and reserves still undefeated, it provides more depth and more players in form.”
Middleton said although the Demons’ squad was young, its members had played a lot of football together.
“Most are young fellows of 22 to 23, and their footy has really improved,’’ he said.
“They’ve been together the last two or three years and have really matured as a group.”
Six Bungaree players – Marty Dufty, Chris O’Keefe, Dave Benson, Scott Mann, Joel Mahar and Shaun Finlayson – became part of the CHFL interleague squad at the weekend: .
This week, the Demons take on Daylesford in what Middleton described as the hardest road trip for the year.
