Rehearsals have started for Moorabool Light Orchestra’s Winter Symphony Of Classics, to be staged on June 15.
Musical director Barry Wilkins is hoping to round out the 40-member orchestra with some new faces. “It’s a great opportunity for all ages to join in. Strings, woodwind, brass and percussions are invited,” Mr Wilkins said.
The concert will be at Bacchus Marsh Public Hall from 2pm.
Features will include the
William Tell Overture and Music for the Royal Fireworks.
The climax will be Modest Mussorgsky’s
Pictures at an Exhibition, a suite in 10
movements for piano, inspired by the 10 paintings of Russian artist and architect Victor Hartman. Re-creations of the works will be displayed during the performance.
