WHAT’S ON: Melton, Moorabool

FAMILY DAY

Characters from Frozen will make a guest appearance at a family fun day at St Bernards Parish Centre, Bacchus Marsh, on May 17. The event, which will start at 10am, will include a jumping castle, cake stall, fairyfloss, auction and coffee van. It’s aimed at raising funds for medical treatment for four-year-old Sienna Cordell, who has cerebral palsy.

St Vinnies

The St Vincent de Paul Society in Bacchus Marsh is hoping to reintroduce the home visit program across the region. The branch will hold an information session on May 20 at St Bernards Parish Hall, Bacchus Marsh. Induction and training will be provided for new and existing members. Session starts at 7.30pm.

Transition expo

An expo covering aspects of children’s transition from primary to secondary school will be held on May 22 by Moorabool council. The session will start at 7pm at Bacchus Marsh town hall where transition expert Angie Wilcock will speak. RSVP by May 16.

Spartan bootcamp

Melton Personal Training will hold a spartan bootcamp on May 10, with donations going to beyondblue. The three-hour session will start at 7.30pm and is free. Beyondblue wristbands will be available for $2. Bring old clothes, shoes and a towel as the training is outdoors. Meet at MPT, Level 1, 35 Unitt Street, Melton.

Hairdressing course

A six-week hairdressing course will be held from May 12 at Melton South Community Centre. The classes, held on Wednesdays from 9.30am, will cover skills required for washing, blowdrying, styling, basic cutting and foils. The $95 fee also includes a kit.

KidsMatter

Melton Primary School will hold a KidsMatter event on May 15, with families invited to a sausage sizzle and activities session from 4.30pm. KidsMatter is an initiative to promote student mental health and well-being in primary schools.
