Three new bus routes set for Bacchus Marsh

Bacchus Marsh is to get a major bus boost with three new routes to be used from Sunday, July 27.

The new Bacchus Marsh network has 504 weekly trips; that is, 84 each weekday and 42 on both Saturday and Sunday.

And for the first time, residents will have access to travel all day.

Public Transport Victoria spokesman Helen Witton said bus hours would also improve, with weekday buses running from 6am-7.30pm and operating all day. Currently, buses don’t run at school times in the morning and afternoon.

Buses will start at 8am on Saturday, finishing at 7.40pm, and will run from 7.50am-7.40pm on Sundays.

“The new timetable will provide more options for Bacchus Marsh residents to travel, giving them greater flexibility to visit family or friends or for employment or social activities,” Ms Witton said.

“The population of Bacchus Marsh has increased substantially, so it’s time for the bus network to be upgraded and modernised to meet growing transport demand. Public Transport Victoria also wants to encourage more residents to use the bus, so by making these improvements it will be much easier and faster to get to the station or town centre.”

The three new bus routes, which will replace existing services, are:

– Route 433 from Hillview Estate to Bacchus Marsh station.

– Route 434 from Telford Park to Bacchus Marsh station.

– Route 435 from Darley to Bacchus Marsh station.

The Liberal MP for Western Victoria Region, Simon Ramsay, said the Napthine government was working to improve public transport in regional towns.

“The new town bus network will provide more frequent and direct services to connect with trains at Bacchus Marsh station, with services extended to meet the needs of fast growing areas in Bacchus Marsh,” Mr Ramsay said.
