Ballarat FL: Inspired Darley Devils overtake Redan in the final quarter

Darley has handed Redan its second loss of the year in the Ballarat Football League.

In what was an impressive come-from-behind victory on Saturday, the Devils trailed at the end of the second and third quarters before fighting back in the run to the finish line.

Despite being the away side, Darley looked right at home at Mars City Oval, booting three final-quarter goals to one for a 7.11 (53) to 5.14 (44) victory.

Matthew Inglis was outstanding for the Devils and was named his side’s best player for the match.

He was well supported by Rhys Ellis, who kicked two goals.

The win allows Darley to remain in fifth spot on the RDFL ladder as the side moves to a win-loss record of 5-4 for the season.

In what will be a huge game this week, the Devils will take on fourth-placed Sunbury.

Elsewhere in the RDFL, Bacchus Marsh was too good for East Point, collecting a 37-point, 14. 16 (100) to 9.9 (63) win.

After leading by two points at the half-time break, the Cobras kicked into overdrive in the third and fourth terms.

Bacchus Marsh booted eight of the final 10 goals of the match to cruise to a big win.

The Cobras were well led by Alec Del Papa who kicked three goals, while around the ground Benjamin Peters worked hard.

Bacchus Marsh, in seventh spot on the ladder, will take on sixth-placed Lake Wendouree this week.
