MICA paramedic Michelle on a heartfelt mission

A western suburbs-based MICA paramedic has received a scholarship to study cardiac arrest techniques in the US.

Clinical support officer Michelle Murphy flew to America last week to see how Ambulance Victoria’s cardiac arrest management compares to other countries.

Ms Murphy received a scholarship through the Emergency Services Foundation, set up after the Ash Wednesday bushfires to help operational emergency service workers undertake advanced studies or training.

“Ambulance Victoria cardiac arrest outcomes data shows Victoria has one of the world’s best cardiac arrest survival rates, but we’re always looking for ways to continue to improve,” Ms Murphy said.
