New Triple Zero boss appointed

David Clayton APM has been appointed as the permanent chief executive of Triple Zero Victoria after acting in the role since October last year.

Mr Clayton is a former Assistant Commissioner of Emergencies and Support Command with Victoria Police where he oversaw state emergency response coordination, operational communications, emergency management, event planning and custody management.

During his policing career, Mr Clayton also held a number of other senior leadership positions, including Commander – Intelligence & Covert Support and Divisional Superintendent for Melbourne, as well as senior roles supporting state emergency response coordination and large-scale incident management.

Emergency Services Minister Vicki Ward congratulated Mr Clayton on his appointment and said he was the ideal person for the job.

“Mr Clayton’s understanding of emergency management and communications will mean Triple Zero Victoria continues to deliver reliable and responsive triple zero services for Victorians,” Ms Ward said.

Mr Clayton has been appointed for a five year term.
