Education on the rise

Thornhill Park Primary School is one of nine schools set to benefit from four new double-storey classrooms as part of the Modular Classrooms Program announced Melton MP Steve McGhie last month.

The new multi-storey building will provide capacity for an extra 100 students at the school.

The new classrooms will be constructed this year and are set to feature double-glazed windows and improved insulation to reduce heat loss, special wall and ceiling linings to reduce internal noise reverberation, energy efficient design and internal block out blinds.

Mr McGhie said “Providing Victorian students with a first-class education must start with first-class facilities and resources, which is why we’re always monitoring what additions our schools need to make this happen.”

Minister for Education Ben Carroll said the new classrooms are being constructed in response to the growing needs of local schools.

“These state-of-the-art modular classroom buildings provide a fast and flexible solution to the growing needs of local schools.”

The 12 new classrooms are planned to be installed and opened for students by term 2 this year, providing capacity for an extra 915 students across the nine schools statewide.
