Help shape budget plans

Melton City Council is kicking off the new year by inviting residents to have their say on Melton’s future budgeting and planning by sharing their ideas for the 2026/27 Council Plan and Budget.

Residents, community groups, sporting clubs and local organisations are encouraged to put forward ideas for projects that could make a difference to the community in the year ahead.

Each year, council develops a Budget and Annual Action Plan to guide how services, facilities and infrastructure are delivered across the municipality’s rapidly growing population, with community input said to play a key role in shaping these plans.

Last year, 64 community ideas were either funded or advocated for through the council plan and budget ideas process, demonstrating the impact of resident feedback.

City of Melton Mayor Cr Lara Carli said the consultation was an important opportunity for the community to pitch in and set priorities.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to tell us what they think should be included in the 2026/27 Council Plan and Budget process and help shape the future of our great City,” Cr Carli said.

“You might have an idea for improving a local park, making it easier to get around, supporting young people, or creating more community spaces.”

Ideas can be submitted at conversations.melton.vic.gov.au, with contributions open until Tuesday 27 January 2026.
