An abandoned nursing home in Melton South was engulfed in flames last night, with the blaze now extinguished.
Firefighters arrived on scene on Tuesday, September 24 to find the single-storey brick building on Bridge Road fully alight.
The roof of the large 50-metre-by-50-metre building had collapsed and community advice was issued for smoke in the area, and some evacuations occurred.
The building was an old, abandoned nursing home.
No injuries were reported.
The local building surveyor was requested to attend due to structural concerns.
FRV and CFA crews worked together to attack the blaze, bringing it under control at 7.18pm.
Firefighters remained on scene to extinguish the remaining hotspots and ensure the safety of the area.
Eleven appliances and 32 firefighters attended the scene.
