Coates Talent League

Several Western Jets were named in the Coates Talent League teams of the year which were announced on Wednesday night. Alex McBride-Loane was named on the half back line of the girls team of the year, while Thomas McGuane and Thomas Burton were named in the boys team. Gippsland Power midfielder Brodie Atkins and Oakleigh Chargers ball magnet Chloe Bown were crowned the best and fairest winners.

Hillside’s Annalise Wilkie fell just short of adding a league best and fairest medal to her premiership win in the Essendon District Football League women’s premier division. Wilkie finished second in the best and fairest count, behind forward Mo Hope. In other awards, Khalil Kaakour was named the men’s rising star winner and Josh Covelli won the division 1 men’s goalkicking award.

Bowls

Melton has announced the signing of Brad Thomas for the Bowls Victoria season. Thomas joins the club from the ACT and has loads of experience going right back to his junior years, including playing at a very high level. “His experience and skill will be a valuable asset for us in the 25-26 season and we can’t wait to have him with us this year,” the club said on social media.

Melton Centrals have announced its first new signing for next year’s Riddell District Football League season. Jordan Davis joins the club from Sunshine, with Centrals saying he brings plenty of experience, toughness, and class through the midfield. “Known for his strength around the contest and ability to set up teammates, he’s a massive addition to our engine room,” Centrals said on social media. Centrals has also announced the re-signings of Jake Armistead, Jon Ferri, Fabian Brancatisano and Hisham Kerbatieh for its first season under new coach Ben Chapman.
