Moorabool council is inviting expressions of interest from artists to create an illuminated artwork around a new pavilion in McLean Reserve in Ballan.
The opportunity is open to artists residing in Moorabool or those with a demonstrated connection to the region.
This commission invites artists to create black and white line drawings or patterns suitable for gobo projection, and the artwork will be projected nightly for four months around the new pavilion using four gobo projectors installed permanently in the pavilion.
The commission does not require artists to have specialist lighting knowledge and only requires artworks to be submitted as drawings, text, or patterns that will translate into a lighting effect in a compelling way.
It is important that the submitted artworks adhere to the technical requirements outlined in a call for expressions of interest document available on the council’s website, which also includes details of how to apply and the selection criteria.
As part of the application, all interested artists will need to send via email to the council their CV, address in Moorabool or a short statement outlining their connection to the region, and the artwork they are proposing.
Successful artists will be selected on the basis of the image files they submit.
Submissions close at 6pm on Tuesday, September 30.
Further details, including how to submit an expression of interest, are available on the council’s website.
