Laying claim to one of the best views in town, this Victorian-inspired double-storey takes in a panorama of night lights, Lerderderg Gorge, the You Yangs and, on a clear day, the Dandenongs.

And if that’s not enough to uplift the spirits, perhaps the house on about 4808 square metres will, with its roomy spaces and period flourishes.

The decor is in shades of soft green on walls, carpets and cornice paint, a shade that enhances the yesteryear feel, as do the ceiling rosettes, stepped skirts and lace curtains. But, of course, today’s demands are also well met.

All bedrooms and the main bathroom are off a good-sized upstairs landing which has a trio of storage closets and a set of french doors to the generous, lace-trimmed balcony, a lovely spot to soak up the views while having a morning cuppa. The bedrooms – each with robes – are large, especially the main with dual entry to a fitted robe-cum-dressing room, and an
en suite with corner spa and timber
vanity unit.

Downstairs living spaces include a lounge-dining room and a large, tiled living hub each linking to the kitchen and a large, carpeted rumpus/theatre room.

The study (off the entry hall) is a fine space with its wall of bespoke mahogany display cabinets a classy inclusion.

Caesarstone-topped breakfast and servery benches, cream vinyl-wrap cabinetry, walk-in pantry, microwave nook, wall oven, 900mm gas cooktop and dishwasher equip the kitchen, while the meals zone is placed to receive plenty of morning sun.

The next-door laundry has storage galore and access to the remote-controlled double garage.

Outside, the hard work has been done, with wonderful bluestone retaining walls and steps, sealed aggregate areas, an upper lawn terrace and gardens featuring silver birches, box hedging, roses and olive, fruit and other trees.

A paved area outside the living hub has a glass fence so as not to impede views, and this might be the place future owners will want to put up a pergola.

Next to it, a fenced section used as a dog run is a prime spot for a pool.

Ducted heating, gas heatbanks and
rear window shutters add to an already tasty dish.
