Safety in the spotlight

A range of events focusing on road and personal safety and community well-being will be on the agenda during Community Safety Month next month. A first aid class will run from 6-9pm on October 6 at the Taylors Hill neighbourhood house, 121 Calder Park Drive, Taylors Hill, and from 6-9pm on October 14 at Stevenson House, 10 Stevenson Crescent, Caroline Springs. Police seeks bankcard bandits

Police are searching for two men who stole another man’s bankcard, demanded his pin and made three withdrawals at a nearby automatic teller machine. The man was walking down Hampshire Road, Sunshine about 8.30am on Friday, March 21, when the two men, described as of Pacific Islander appearance, approached him. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Letter accusations false

Police are investigating a letter drop that has incorrectly published information about a local man. The letter was posted to residents in the Diggers Rest and Sunbury areas by an unknown person. The letter accuses the man of committing criminal acts. Police said the accusations are false and that the man who is the subject of the letters has no prior criminal history. Police are asking anyone who receives such a letter to hand it into Melton or Sunbury police stations.
