The Moorabool region is the focus of a police campaign aimed at reducing weekend accidents on unsealed roads.
The 12-month campaign will focus on Moorabool, the Macedon Ranges and Surf Coast – areas that Victoria Police say attract a higher number of motorcyclists and four-wheel drive enthusiasts, with accidents and serious injury more prominent than elsewhere.
Inspector Michael Baker said vehicles still had to be registered and roadworthy even for use on unsealed roads.
Anyone who plans to drive off-road is urged to let others know where they’re going and take a first aid kit and extra supplies in case an accident leaves them stranded.
