Experience poets and those new to the art of spoken word are being encouraged to sign up for an open mic event in Bacchus Marsh next month.

Organiser Caitlin Mahony said the event will be a celebration of words featuring poetry and music.

The open mic afternoon is being held as part of Moorabool council’s Hide + Seek festival.

The Hide + Seek Festival is dedicated to celebrating arts and culture in Moorabool, bringing together local talent and inviting creativity from afar. This festival offers a diverse range of events that foster community engagement and artistic expression.

The open mic event will feature multi-award winning Ballarat poet Nathan Curnow whose work resonates with audiences across Australia and the world.

Attendees will also hear from two emerging artists from Gordon – Shafiah and Zeb Nelson – who promise to elevate the event with their captivating performance.

“Whether you’re an experienced poet or just looking to dip your toes into the art of spoken word, the open mic is a welcoming space for everyone,” Ms Mahony said.,

“Audience members are encouraged to participate by sharing their own poetry or simply enjoying the creative expressions of others.”

It will be held at Bookbarn, Blacksmiths Cottage, Bacchus Marsh, on Sunday, November 10, from 2-4pm. Admission is free.

The Hide + Seek Festival is on from November 1-10, offering 10 days of free or low-cost family-friendly fun across Moorabool.
