Construction of the new Ballan Community and Library Hub will commence this week, and Moorabool Shire Council is throwing a party to celebrate.
The event will mark the beginning of the build, which has been earmarked as a centrepiece of the community, and is hosted by the council.
It will run from 11am – 1pm on Saturday June 22 at AA McLean Reserve on Inglis Street, locals are invited to join the community fun.
Mayor Ally Munari said there will be plenty on for families to enjoy a day out.
“We encourage residents in Ballan and surrounds to turn up next Saturday and have some fun with us – there’ll be a petting zoo, face-painting, music, food and a best-dressed competition for the kids,” she said.
Once complete, the hub will have library services, designated areas for youth and children, Maternal and Child Health services, an art exhibition space, a visitor information centre, and community meeting rooms.
It is anticipated that it will be ready by August next year.
The project, which cost more than $9.5 million dollars, was jointly funded by the Victorian government, Moorabool Shire Council, and the Ballan & District Community Hospital.
