Making Melton’s roads safer

Melton council is starting a vital upgrade to improve safety and traffic flow at one of the city’s busiest intersections.

The project at the intersection of Caroline Springs Boulevard and Rockbank Middle Road is part of a series of council works across Melton aimed at making roads safer and better

suited to the rapidly growing community.

The first phase of works has commenced, including site setup and tree removal works.

Demolition of the roundabout and medians will take place from early January 2024.

During this phase, single lanes will be in operation across the intersection between the hours of 9am and 3pm while demolition of the existing roundabout and medians takes place. Demolition will take approximately two weeks.

From late January 2024, the next phase of construction works will commence with lane

closures and altered traffic management arrangements for both Caroline Springs Boulevard and Rockbank Middle Road.

Construction is expected to take approximately 12 months.

Council encourages residents to use alternative routes and allow extra time for their journey – especially during peak times.

Melton Mayor Kathy Majdlik said the City of Melton is growing rapidly, and council is investing in roads and infrastructure to

allow people to get around safely and easily connect to the places they need to go.

“When it is completed, this work will improve safety and make it easier for people travelling on both Caroline Springs Boulevard and Rockbank Middle Rd,” she said.

“We know there will be delays and disruptions, but these improvements are part of Melton City Council’s ongoing commitment to future-proofing our road network.’

“Council will continue to keep everyone updated on our progress and give the community notice about any disruptions so they can plan ahead.”
