Moorabool’s medieval theme park Kryal Castle has been crowned the second best tourist attraction in Victoria.

The Victorian Tourism Awards are hosted annually by the Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) and Kryal Castle won silver in the 2023 Tourist Attractions category.

Marketing Director Chantelle Taylor said the award honoured the whole team.

“Receiving Silver for Best Tourist Attraction at the VTIC Victorian Tourism Awards is a celebration of our unique experiences at Kryal Castle and a tribute to our dedicated staff’s tireless efforts in creating unforgettable memories for our guests,” she said.

“This award belongs to everyone who has been part of the Kryal Castle journey – our team, the community, and visitors exploring the magic of Kryal.”

Gold was awarded to Ballarat Wildlife park.

Tourism Midwest Victoria, a body that represents Moorabool and Ballarat, also had its Sustainable Destination Development Officer Madeleine Sawyer take out the Young Achiever’s Award.

The award recognises an individual working in the tourism industry and their contribution to the development of a vibrant and professional tourism industry.

Tourism Midwest Victoria Chair John Pandazopoulos congratulated the local winners.

“Congratulations to the teams at the Ballarat Wildlife Park and Kryal Castle, your passion and innovation play an important role in attracting visitors to our region,” he said.

“The future of our industry is in good hands with clever and motivated people like Madeleine guiding the way.”
