The Eynesbury Winter Festival is in full swing with a range of events, performances and activities that shine a light on the best parts of winter.
The festival boasts a winter solstice bonfire, street performers, food trucks, children’s
entertainment, markets, fireworks, and the main attraction – a 200 square-metre ice skating rink large enough to hold seventy people at a time of all ages and abilities.
The half a million dollar event was delivered by Eynesbury developer Resimax Group, with a $50,000 contribution from the state government’s small and medium events program.
Eynesbury Quarter General Manager, Brad Alton said the event has had an excellent turnout so far, with 70 per cent more attendees than last year.
“It is amazing to see how inclusive an ice rink can be. People from all backgrounds are coming and challenging themselves on the ice, not always with success but at least they are trying,” he said.
“Kids are so excited by all the free activities we have every day, from magic to circus shows as well as a reptile exhibition.”
“The biggest weekend is coming – the Winter Solstice celebration on 1 July. There’ll be a bonfire, fireworks, drummers and much more. The ice rink is already fully booked from 2pm until 7pm.”
Melton MP Steve McGhie said the state funding is a “huge win” for Melton.
“This event will attract more visitors to the area, which is fantastic news for local businesses,” he said.
“The Eynesbury Winter Festival will not only generate more jobs for Melton but it will also deliver many benefits right across Greater Melbourne.”
The event began on June 23 and will run until the 9th of July.
