Melton City Libraries has confirmed it will recommence inter-library loans on Monday, May 1, making it easier for residents seeking “niche” books.
Inter-library loans allow borrowers all over Victoria to access the widest possible range of materials from beyond the collections held at their local public library service.
Borrowers can place up to 20 holds per library card, and if you can’t find what you’re looking for, speak to a staff member or place a purchase request and the library can add it to its collection.
New releases, board books, picture books and magazines are not available through this service.
If you have memberships with other library services, check what conditions apply as they may vary.
Melton Mayor Lara Carli said inter-library loans are “so important to thousands of people wanting to read hard to find or
niche books”.
“We’ve worked hard to bring the service back and are really pleased to be able to deliver this valued service for our community,” she said.
