Moorabool’s children are vowing to never forget their forefathers’ roles in World War I.
The musical show Remembering World War I will star pupils from Bacchus Marsh Secondary College and Bacchus Marsh, Darley, Pentland, St Bernard’s, Coimadai and Balliang East primary schools.
Darley Primary School teacher Yvette Barnes said her pupils were excited to be a part of a very special day.
“We feel that it’s important for the children to know the history of their town and those who fought for us,” Ms Barnes said.
“We should revere the people who died. We shouldn’t celebrate war but we should be grateful for what people did for us.”
Ms Barnes said she hoped the children would understand the sacrifices their forefathers made during the war for them to “live in a land of peace”.
“We’re so lucky to be living here in peace,” she said.
Remembering World War I will be performed from 7pm on Thursday, August 6, at the Bacchus Marsh Secondary College drama hall, Grant Street.
