NBN upgrades coming to Melton

Rockbank and Mount Cottrell will receive better broadband services by 2025.

Two new broadband infrastructure projects will be bringing faster internet services to the Melton local government area.

Melton MP Steve McGhie announced on Thursday, October 13 that the Victorian Government has partnered with telecommunications providers to deliver projects to Rockbank and Mount Cottrell.

The infrastructure projects are a part of a broader state government program to deliver faster broadband in more than 180 locations, including 150 areas in regional Victoria all by mid 2025, with some projects coming online in 2023.

The $550 million Connecting Victoria program is aimed at providing better mobile and broadband connection.

NBN Co will be delivering the vast majority of the broadband upgrades through a $195.4

million agreement with the Victorian Government.

Further upgrades will be implemented by telecommunications partners Opticomm and Swoop.

An extra 2,000 kilometres of fibre will be installed on top of the 1,000 kilometres of fibre

already being rolled out over the next three years.

MP McGhie said that Melton residents deserve fast broadband coverage.

“Exciting changes and innovative projects are happening in Melton, and they need good

quality connectivity to support them. This investment will help more Melton businesses to

succeed and communities to thrive,” he said.
