The Mid-Autumn Festival is a major day of celebration, marked on the 15th day of the 8th Lunar month, otherwise known as the middle of autumn in China.
The festival, also known as Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is when it is believed the moon is at its fullest and brightest.
In Chinese culture, the full moon symbolizes reunion and families come together to celebrate and appreciate the moon.
Melton residents can commemorate the day with a celebration at Caroline Springs Library, with a Mid-Autumn Festival Family Day free event.
The celebrations will run from 10am on September 9, including a special Toddler Time session, lantern crafts and delicious foods for the whole family.
